Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American TV reporter, journalist and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career with KYW Radio and TV as an Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. In 1976, she was a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). After two years, she was hired by NBC News as a Washington reporter. In 1980, she began covering the White House. 1988 became the principal journalist for Congress. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House correspondent in 1992. and chief foreign affairs Correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV show Meet the Press and also was the host for the program. Mitchell was a panelist during the 1988 presidential debates with George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her role in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first reporter to write about White House stories for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's tenure in office from 1981 to 1988. Mitchell reported on a variety of notable stories, including the Iran-Contra scandal, budget tax reforms and arms control. Mitchell travelled along with President Ronald Reagan many times to attend summits and discuss issues such as the Iran Contra scandal.
