Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American TV journalist anchor and commentator for NBC News based in Washington D.C. Growing up within New York City, Mitchell obtained a bachelor's degree in English literature at the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was recruited as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. 1996, she was hired by WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). In Washington she was named general correspondent by NBC News two year later. In 1981, she began covering at the White House, and in 1988 she was appointed the Chief Correspondent to Congress. She was promoted to the chief White House correspondent in 1992 and chief foreign affairs correspondent in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell hosted and participated as a panelist at the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell was a part of the panel at 1988 Presidential Debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has received numerous awards in journalism, among them the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. The award was presented to her with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell's very first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. The time span covered the two Ronald Reagan terms in office. Mitchell covered a number of noteworthy stories over the years, such as budget reform, tax reform, and the Iran Contra affair. She traveled frequently with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
